Nous avons demandé à 20 spécialistes de l’animation d’ici et d’ailleurs – programmateurs et critiques – d’établir leurs listes des 10 meilleurs courts métrages d’animation de l’année. Notre intention en faisant appel à autant de listes était de trouver une réponse à la question suivante : quels sont les films de 2015 ayant suscité l’intérêt de ceux qui ont comme métier de les voir et de les évaluer ?

La contrainte donnée à chacun était de limiter la sélection aux films repérés dans les festivals ou sur le Web en 2015. Comme le cycle de vie d’un court métrage d’animation en festival est habituellement d’une durée de deux ans, il est possible que des films produits et lancés en 2014 se retrouvent dans quelques sélections et que certains de nos invités n’aient pas encore eu l’occasion de voir des films ayant été sélectionnés par d’autres. Les choix ont donc été faits à partir d’ensembles de films différant légèrement entre eux.

Toutefois, d’une liste à l’autre, des récurrences apparaissent. Certains films ont sans conteste enthousiasmé plusieurs de nos spécialistes invités. Ainsi, au bas de cette page, nous avons établi un palmarès global des films ayant obtenu plus de deux mentions.

We asked 20 animation experts, programmers and critics from Quebec and from around the world, to come up with their top 10 animated shorts from the past year. Our hope in casting such a wide net was to answer the following question once and for all: In 2015, which films caught the eye of those who view and appraise them for a living?

     We asked each of them to limit their choices to films that had screened at festivals or on the Web in 2015. Since the life span of an animated film is typically two years on the festival circuit, some films from 2014 may have found themselves on a few lists. At the same time, other more recent works that made their way onto some lists may not yet have been seen, and therefore considered, by all of the participants. In other words, films were selected from slightly different pools.

     Nevertheless, there are commonalities from one list to the next. Some films clearly inspired more than a few of our invited experts. In the final selection of films, listed below, each received more than two mentions in the overall ranking.
